Principal

About the Role

As Principal at DTE Capital Partners, ownership of deals runs end-to-end: from first contact with a founder to signing, and from closing to value creation in the portfolio. The position sits directly alongside the Partners, with a clear path toward Partner level.

Responsibilities

  • Originating proprietary deal flow in the energy, food, and health transitions through direct founder contact, sector experts, and advisor networks
  • Leading transactions: valuation, structuring, financing, due diligence coordination, and negotiation through to closing
  • Owning the investment case, from first screening to the memo presented to the Investment Committee
  • Driving value creation at portfolio companies, including board participation, buy-and-build, professionalisation, and preparation for exit
  • Supervising and developing the investment team, and safeguarding the quality of analyses and deal materials
  • Contributing to fund development, including LP contact, investor materials, and further building the platform

Your Profile

A seasoned investor who thinks like an entrepreneur and works comfortably in a compact team where responsibility is taken rather than assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant PE experience, with a demonstrable track record in lower mid-market buyouts. Additional experience in M&A, venture capital, strategy consulting, or an entrepreneurial role is also considered beneficial
  • Independently led transactions from origination through closing
  • Concrete exit experience, having actively driven at least several portfolio companies through a full buy-and-sale process to a strategic or financial buyer
  • Affinity with hardware-driven technology companies and industrial business models
  • Affinity with or experience in impact investing, and conviction that returns and measurable impact reinforce each other
  • Strong command of financial modelling, LBO structures, and deal documentation
  • Comfortable at the management team table, in the boardroom, and across the negotiating table
  • Full professional proficiency in Dutch and English
